University Art Museum: Sol Lewitt Days wall drawings project

Throughout the Summer the University of Arizona’s Museum of Art hosts local artists to carry out conceptual artist Sol Lewitt’s plans for wall drawings. Our group, the “magnificent five”, is working on two pieces across from each other in the main gallery.  The work is impressive in scale, time-consuming; executed with only a #5 mechanical graphite pencil and has a very calming, meditative effect on the mind…

Carolyn and Mano Sotelo lay out the format for wall drawing #869C.

BASIS students on a field trip to the museum. It is wonderful to see former art students, especially in an art museum. Hi Jared!

Diane works on wall drawing #103.

Come try for yourself! The museum opens at 9AM, Tuesday-Saturday. I’m here  9 to11 weekday mornings (until completion).
