Low Key Parakeet: Pastel Process with Live Animal

It all started with a parakeet-sitting gig…

The birds are a perfect subject because they remain still for long periods. I’m looking at “Caska”. He is so colorful-a classic parakeet- I pick a simple analogous  color combination because it fits perfectly.

But wait, there is a chance for more subtly with “Ama”. I am exploring color subtleties so Ama is a better subject. She seems just “yellow” but actually picks up the blue from Caska and her cage and reflects many other colors as well. She also has serious luminous potential which is a forte of the pastel medium.

I add more warm and cool yellows to the initial palette.

Ama with an analogous combination between yellow and blue plus gray, black and white.
