Tucson Summer Plan: Get up early and…paint!
We want to keep up our plein airing despite the Tucson summer slug-factor. We hit the road at 5:30 a.m. and climb up into the Catalinas. Painting commences around 6:30 and wraps up around 9 when highlights shift from warm to cool.
Our attitude is exploratory. We may or may not have a painting by 9 but at least we’re looking…which is pretty crucial, actually.
Here we go!
Hello 6:30. Whoa, a 22 degree cirrostratus halo. Hey! Don’t stare.
Valerie sets up way over there…to look out at this view.
I’ve got my eye on this rather-too-complicated snag.
Remember, the three “S’s” of plein air painting: See it, Simplify it, State it.
Times up! We head back down with memories more vivid than reality…nature really is pretty dull.
