Turquoise with TPS (Tucson Pastel Society)

Ever been to Christopher Columbus Park on the Westside?  The water is tinted turquoise. So…the usual rules of painting water do not apply color wise…which is surprisingly liberating. Surreal. Fantasy. Fun! (eerie, strange, unnatural). (Fun is totally natural, don’t get me wrong).

I’m in some dark shade, too dark really.

We paint for 2 hours and then enjoy looking at each other’s work. This paint-out was organized by the Tucson Pastel Society, a group dedicated to providing plein air paint-outs to artists (among other educational opportunities).

Turquoise Turbulence, oil, 12×12, Milstead
